I’m joined by Fran Ellington from Triple Bottom Line Accounting talking about measuring your eco and social impact.
Fran is the Business Development and Sustainability Director at TBLA.
Her roles include HR, ESG impact services, carbon literacy training and marketing. In 2020, she developed the TBLA Environmental and Social Impact Service. As part of the process, she has conducted an analysis of the TBLA social and governance profile and a whole company carbon calculation with accompanying target setting, carbon reduction action plan and impact narrative. In 2022, Fran was invited to join the Norwich Business Climate Leaders advisory board, hoping to accelerate the transition to Net Zero.
Outside the office, you will find Fran hiking, gardening or foraging for ingredients for recipes, home herbal remedies or homemade skincare products.
Fran and the team at TBLA are also practising what they preach and making great choices for their own business and staff team. For example they pay everyone the living wage, staff have a 4 day week, they are part of the climate perks scheme and are always looking for ways to help the planet hand in hand with their community and clients.
I chat to Fran to talk about the increase in organisations taking both positive and negative interests in the environmental and social impacts they have on the planet and their communities. She also lets us in on some of the changes the companies she supports are making and shares what the major reasons are for the upsurge in Eco Business.
We will find out some of the actions TBLA have taken and also other businesses have made to help them on their Eco Journey.
What we cover in this episode:
- Why do you think businesses should account for their social and environmental impact?
- What changes have you made at TBLA to address your impact as a company.
- What inspired you to develop a bespoke impact consultancy service to offer to your clients 4. .
- How does your impact consultancy work / how do people get involved – ( i might cover this as part of the above question but it not….)
- Are there not several impact measurement tools already available on the market?
- Are there opportunities for Eco Businesses in these current times – are you encouraging new businesses to get started?
- What is your topTop – Eco-tip for businesses
- Do you think impact reporting will ever become a legal requirement – will businesses be obligated to report on the triple bottom line (people, planet and profit) in the near future?
